LINQ’s future development regarding carbon emissions

LINQ’s future development regarding carbon emissions focuses on enhancing its capabilities to provide even more detailed and actionable insights, particularly in managing Scope 3 emissions and refining the platform’s features for broader carbon intensity reporting use.

Here are the key areas of focus:

Improvement in Scope 3 Emissions Tracking

  • Expanding Scope 3 Categories: LINQ plans to further develop its ability to track a wider range of Scope 3 emissions, beyond the most common categories like purchased goods and upstream transportation. The goal is to cover more categories such as downstream product use, waste management and end-of-life treatment.
  • Generalising the Scope 3 Allocation Method: LINQ will make its Scope 3 allocation more flexible by improving the infrastructure capacity calculations and enhancing the accuracy of emissions assigned to actions, roles, and systems. This will allow organisations to account for a broader range of Scope 3 emissions while ensuring the model remains dynamic and flexible.

AI-Driven Insights and Automation

  • Automated Model Capture: LINQ is exploring the integration of AI to help automate the capture of organisational models. This will reduce the time needed for manual data entry and ensure that carbon emissions data is captured more efficiently and comprehensively.
  • AI-Enhanced Emissions Insights: The platform will utilise AI to analyse emissions data and generate deeper insights, helping organisations identify opportunities for carbon reduction more quickly and accurately.

Carbon Decision Support

  • Dynamic Decision-Making Tools: LINQ will continue enhancing its decision-making tools, allowing organisations to simulate different operational scenarios and instantly see how changes will impact carbon emissions, costs, and timelines. This forward-looking capability will become even more integral to decision-making processes as businesses aim to achieve net-zero targets.

Sustainability Dashboard and Reporting Enhancements

  • User-Friendly Dashboards: LINQ will expand its dashboard features, making it easier for businesses to understand the carbon intensity of how they work and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders. This will be particularly important for meeting evolving regulatory and compliance requirements in markets like the EU and the USA.
  • Regulatory Compliance Integration: As global regulations around decarbonisation and carbon reporting tighten, LINQ will develop more tools to help organisations comply with complex reporting regulations. The ability to generate reports that align with standards such as the GHG Protocol and ISO will be critical.
